Southeast Asia is an adventure vacation
paradise. Blessed with some of the most beautiful tropical
islands on the face of our planet. Pristine and stunningly beautiful, Myanmar Burma’s
Mergui Archipelago has over eight hundred islands, scattered throughout an area of some
ten thousand square miles, this truly is one of the very few remaining untouched areas
on earth and an outstanding location for our Burma adventure vacation.
The Mergui Archipelago, Burma Myanmar had been closed to foreigners
for over fifty years until 1997, when we were lucky enough to be the first diving
company ever to be granted a license to undertake tropical island vacations there –
these being adventure cruises, live-aboard diving trips, yacht charters, and last,
but not least, our sea kayaking safaris.
The Mergui archipelago has a rich history of maritime trade,
mysticism and piracy. In this modern-day and age it is as it was in days gone by –
bar the piracy!
Most of the islands are covered in rain forest, whilst the
incredible Myanmar beaches are devoid of humans; the only visitors are turtles and
other, mostly nocturnal, wildlife. Due to its virtual isolation, the islands and
surrounding seas are alive with an amazing diversity of wildlife, flora and fauna.
Some of the creatures we have seen above water include wild elephants, Flying Foxes,
Civet Cats, Gibbons, crab-eating monkeys, wild boar, Monitor Lizards, Turtles,
Armadillos and Fruit Bats. Bird-life includes sea eagles, Hornbills and flocks of
parrots. Underwater, the coral reefs are teeming with life - wonderful for diving and
snorkeling in warm, clear waters!
